Things I Add to Cart but Never Buy

Whenever I’m in the middle of a tiring workday, I would make little promises to myself – sleep early, wake up, clean, maybe cook, or even do at least 30 minutes of exercise before my next shift. I always push myself to get things done, to be productive. By the end of the day, a few hours are gone, wasted on procrastinating sleep, doom scrolling on social media, and my ultimate guilty pleasure – adding things to my cart I’ll never actually buy.

As I scroll, a lot of posts inspire me and I’m kind of sorting things I think I need. Planning for outfits that look so good for an imaginary event, cute home essentials that would lift my mood; I love looking at desk organizers, cute mugs, a warm table lamp, aesthetic table pieces, or cute pillows or blankets. My cart is also packed with toys as potential gifts for the kids in my family and in the community this coming Christmas. And then there are the kitchen appliances I need to finally try those saved cooking videos from months ago. (I think I’ve completed 9 out of 99 saved recipes. Yeah, it’s me. I’m the problem it’s me.)

I had this desire to learn how to put on fake lashes to elevate my look, even on normal days when I go out. I don’t really like using the ones that stick for weeks, I feel uncomfortable, or I’m not just used to it. I checked my cart; I was surprised to see three different sets from different brands that I had added on separate days. I never checked out any of them!

Weirdly enough, it feels satisfying when I try to organize and plan. But then, nothing really happens. All are just plans in my mind, abandoned carts, and zero checkouts.

These things are one of my escapes from reality, the fantasy of having it all. The pleasure of not buying but pretending that I could. Is it just me, or do you also have fun adding things to your cart and never checking them out?

At the end of the day, I realize that it’s such a silly habit… but I‘m a little proud. I get to daydream but still manage not to consume so much. I do purchase stuff online, but only those for what I truly need.

In this budol era, let’s try to keep what really matters. There are so many ads online, and it’s so tempting to want everything we see. But I hope you don’t feel pressured to buy things you don’t need – because sometimes, having peace of mind is worth more than a full cart.

PS: I’ve got to be honest with you. One of the reasons I don’t order much online is because I never want to answer calls from unknown numbers. Yeah, I just daydream of adding stuff to cart then abandoning it. But when it comes to the essentials, I actually put my mans number in the contact details so the rider can call him instead of me. I also don’t answer spam calls —sorry! Maybe I’m just too anxious with all the scams going around these days. Anyway, thanks to my man for always making things convenient for me. He’s not allergic to answering calls so no problem on his side at all.

The charcuterie displayed by Emborg was also beautiful and eye-catching – almost as if it completed the whole event aesthetic. ❮ ❯ The atmosphere was warm and fun, filled with entrepreneurs, food lovers, and home bakers excited to learn and explore new products.   One of the highlights of the event was the Unox oven demonstration. They showcased how to bake pastries and transform them inside their smart ovens.   On day one, they shared how to bake such as the traditional mooncakes, panettone, and Taiwanese Popo Buns. Below, I’m sharing th...
