My First DBS Acquaintance Party

If someone told me last year that I’d be at a beach party with a fun and thriving blogging community, I wouldn’t have believed you. But come June, there I was, standing on the sandy shores of Hamugaway Beach Resort in Samal, wearing my so-called pastel outfit (is it really pastel though? lol), and my heart full of excitement as I officially became part of the Davao Bloggers Society (DBS) family.

It’s been a while since I last attended a big event, so joining the Davao Bloggers Society Acquaintance Party this year felt like a soft reintroduction to socializing again. And what a perfect way to do it!

I became an official member last February 2025, and being part of this creative and inspiring community has been such an honor. The acquaintance party was held on June 21, 2025, and for the first time ever, it was done by the beach. Yup, you read that right - our AP went coastal at the beautiful Hamugaway Beach Resort in Samal.

I brought my sister with me as my plus one, and we really enjoyed the chill vibe, the fun activities, and the new faces we met. It’s not every day that I get to attend events like this, so I told myself to just be present and have fun.

We joined some games (surprisingly fun!), laughed with other members, and even stayed until the after party. Not gonna lie, the foam party was one of my favorite parts. It was one of those carefree moments where you forget about work, to-do lists, or anything stressful. You just let loose and dance in the bubbles.

One of the biggest highlights for me (aside from the view and food 😋) was when I won a staycation raffle prize. I couldn’t believe it. I rarely win in raffles, so I took it as a great sign for the year ahead.

Oh, and of course, I also took part in the oath-taking ceremony as a new member. It was short and simple, but meaningful. It felt like a quiet “yes” to growing, learning, and showing up in this community.

I’m honestly grateful to the DBS officers and everyone who made the event possible. I can just imagine how much effort it took to plan and organize everything. From the beach setup to the activities, the giveaways, and the support from our amazing sponsors and partners, it all came together so beautifully. I am personally grateful for all of the following brands that make the celebration unforgettable.

foodpanda, Cebu Pacific Air, Red Planet Hotels Philippines, Alsons Development and Investment Corporationrealme, My Skin Origins, Universal Robina Corporation (URC)Waterfront Insular Hotel Davao, Ripple8, ASUS Philippines, native

Looking back at that day, it reminded me how important it is to be part of something bigger than yourself. Whether you’re a long-time content creator or just starting out, it’s nice to know you have a space like DBS where people support, inspire, and grow with each other.

So yeah, beach please? Definitely again.

And to anyone reading this, whether you are part of a group or not, don’t be afraid to try new things, meet new people, and celebrate milestones (big or small). You never know how much one day can fill your heart.

Some photos were captured by Francis Dave Photography and Square Image — thank you for the amazing shots!

How We Spent the First 15 Days of January 2026 (and the Fitness Items We’re Loving)

The first fifteen days of January 2026 felt slower than most days of 2025. We did so much movement, spent a lot of time with mom, my sis, and my man, and I’m happy with how the year started.  If I had to describe this month in one word, it would be “privileged”. My sister and I are both on a work-from-home setup. That means we don’t necessarily spend hours getting ready, commuting, or sitting in traffic, and that extra time gives us room to do more than just work. Because of that, we have the opportunity to do other things like more movement. So, we spent most of our time working out and running.  I officially started working on January 3. Then, on January 7, I set a small personal goal of a minimum 50 squats daily—whether it was a fitness day, a workday, or a rest day. Looking back, here’s how the first fifteen days of January went: January 1 (Thursday) - New Year Celebration January 2 (Friday) - Bed rot, movies, and a dog bath at the beach.  January 3 (Saturday)...
